Most Germans know the word „Crack” as an illegal drug. It’s something we usually don’t really want to get involved with! But the word „crack” is used in many different expressions, and it has many different meanings, most of which you can expect to hear in a business environment.

Here are some popular ones for you to use:

- Let’s get cracking or we’ll never get this contract written.
- His face cracked into a smile when they accepted his offer.
- I’m going to have a crack at translating this document.
- I can’t crack this problem.

Finally, if you’re ever in Ireland you might be asked to „go out for some crack”. Written as „craic” it is a Gaelic word and means fun or entertainment. So don’t be afraid of going along. You won’t be expected to take any illegal substances, and you’ll probably have a great time! |
